Kathryn Elliott: Nutrition, Weight Loss & Cooking Classes

Kathryn Elliott is a Nutritionist, food writer and healthy cooking expert. At Balance2health she offers a specialist nutrition service, focussing on food, healthy cooking and making eating well easier.
Food is the foundation of good health – you really are what you eat. And if you want good health, then you have to eat good food.
However, with all the information, advice and pressure out there it’s hard to know what actually is the best food for you and your family.
Kathryn takes a practical and simple approach to healthy eating, believing that good food should be easy, delicious and something you actually want to eat. Healthy food has to be enjoyable to be sustainable and good eating is not about denial, or eating rabbit food all day. Instead Kathryn focusses on simplifying healthy eating and building up new habits – so it’s something you can do every day, even when it’s been a long day.
Kathryn is also a food and cookery writer. Her clients include Readers’ Digest where she writes The Everyday Kitchen column and blog, Wellbeing and Private Practice. For three years Kathryn wrote a recipe column called ‘Ten Minute Kitchen’ for Life etc magazine and was the Nutrition Editor for HealthSmart. Kathryn is the co-author of the e-Magazine, An Honest Kitchen and also blogs about how to eat well, at Limes and Lycopene.
Kathryn’s life centres on food – both professionally and personally. She spends her clinic days working with individuals encouraging them to eat well. Other days are spent writing about food – why you should eat well, what to eat and how to do it. And at the end of the day, she relaxes and recharges through cooking. Food that nourishes and nurtures. Her cooking at home isn’t fancy, but instead she enjoys experimenting and a lot of the time cooks through a combination of intuition and what’s available.
Kathryn offers a range of services at Balance2health from cooking classes, through supermarket tours, weight management programmes and nutrition sessions for specific health issues. All services are offered in one-on-one sessions, private groups (up to 4 people) and small groups of up to 10.
To find out how to get your health back on track contact Kathryn on 0410 412 431 or kathryn@kathrynelliott.com.au.

Johanna Brown: Yoga

Having practiced for more than 12 years, Johanna’s quiet passion has been yoga. It was and continues to be a silent partner in her spiritual and physical evolution. Feeling drawn to this path, and the pull away from a corporate career, she gained her Level 1 Certification in the Hatha style of yoga teaching at Samadhi Yoga in 2010.
Johanna practices and teaches in the flowing style of vinyasa yoga – a dynamic and invigorating practice for the body and mind. For completeness and balance, she also encourages a restorative yoga and meditation practice and finds herself offering this practice more and more often to busy people. Having recently completed training in prenatal yoga, she is now able to offer safe and nurturing yoga to support pregnancy and preparation for childbirth.
Johanna’s teaching style focuses on maintaining proper alignment before moving to the next level in a posture. This encourages a stronger grounding and safer way to advance one’s yoga practice. In her classes Johanna offers hands on adjustments to those wanting them, as this allows for a deeper understanding of correct alignment.
Through teaching the asana (physical postures), Johanna aspires for her clients to be nurtured by embracing the wholeness of yoga, cultivating self awareness and mental clarity, and allowing themselves to make lifestyle choices that help them move toward experiencing joy and balance in life.
We are delighted that Johanna has joined Balance2health as one of our yoga instructors. Johanna teaches classes on Sunday mornings.
Johanna’s qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Communication)
- Advanced Diploma of Nutrition
- Level 1 Samadhi Yoga
